On November 4th, 2006, Johnson will head to Jefferson, Texas
where he will be one of a handful of authors featured in the
BOOKS ALIVE! Book festival organized and produced by Kathy

Johnson, a native of South Carolina, and Thiessen, a native
“Southern” Californian and self-professed “Southerner
at Heart” were recently featured in the Turner South
Network’s “My South” promotional campaign
along with other noted celebrities including Angela Bassett,
Morgan Freeman, Mimi Rogers, Mary Steenburgen, Raven Symone,.Nancy
O’Dell,and Fannie Flagg among others.
Johnson wrote and Thiessen directed “Just Pray,”
the award winning, live action narrative set in the South.
Johnson is also the author of “Life. Be There At Ten
‘Til.”, a collection of twenty five non-fiction
stories of life in the South.
Turner South, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.’s 24-hour
regional entertainment network, presents a mix of original
programming, movies, regional news and sports to cable and

Cerritos College hosts Johnson and Thiessen for Q
& A Panel
March 17, 2006
In celebraton of women’s history month at Cerritos College,
R. Dean Johnson and producing partner Tiffani Thiessen were
invited to chair a panel discussion on independent film making
in Hollywood and the relative significance that women maintain
within the entertainment industry’s landscape. The producers
film, “Just Pray” (written by Johnson and directed
by Thiessen) was shown to the audience first. Afterwards,
a Q & A session was held as the two enlightened attendees
with interesting facts and commentaries regarding women in
Hollywood and their roles throughout the entertainment industry’s
history.
